Why should you listen to me?

Greetings,
My name is Roberto Longo. I have just graduated from law school and am gearing up for the July bar examination. I also work part time for a company named, Trial Media LLC. The company offers consulting services for attorneys involved in litigation and we assist in creating demonstrative media evidence. We have created demonstrative evidence ranging from a simple PowerPoint presentation to a dynamic Adobe Flash presentation.

Although I'm 'new to the game,' I can tell you that the incorporation of technology is essential in todays litigation arena. Judges expect it, Juries expect it and you would be remiss to forego any advantage offered to assist your client. Technology, after all, is all about taking the complex and making it simple. This should resonate with all litigation minded attorneys. It is up to us, after all, to take complex and arcane tidbits of law and transform them into palatable bites for the jury.

In this blog I will endeavor to explain to you some beneficial technologies to assist you in the court room. Oh, and why should you listen to me? I'm currently unbarred, I just graduated law school and haven't tried any cases myself. I have been working in a law firm for the past 6 years. I've been to trials, mediations, and arbitrations as a technological and legal assistant. I've been creating demonstrative evidence since 2004. I've taught myself how to code C++, HTML, and action script. Here's a non-definitive list of programs I've worked with: Photoshop, Pagemaker, InDesign, Dreamweaver, Frontpage, Sketchup, Visual Basic, Illustrator, PowerPoint, Flash, Fireworks, After Effects, the Indata software suites, and many many more. I have been building computers and working with computers for the past 15 years.

While my experience as an attorney has yet to begin, I have had a long time to see the interaction between technology and the law. I hope that I can help you become the better attorney that you can be.
